Our Ministries

Baptist Happy Hour

Baptist Happy Hour is an opportunity to meet community members and participate in the life of Southside Baptist Church outside Sunday attendance. As displayed in the Lord’s Supper, a shared meal has the power to transcend boundaries and cultivate common unity.

Baptist Happy Hour encourages participants to not only share food and drinks, but their own stories of God’s work in their lives. If you are interested in the Baptist Happy Hour or would like more information regarding additional formation opportunities, contact us.

Community Partners

The ministries and non-profits listed below partner and/or share space with Southside Baptist Church.

Food Pantry

Southside Baptist Church mission to be an inclusive community of grace manifests in the practice of extravagant generosity. In collaboration with Iron City Church, the Community Food Bank of Central Alabama, and the United Way of Central Alabama, Southside Food Pantry serves our food-insecure neighbors every other Thursday from 1-3pm. Operated by a host of volunteers from a variety of local churches, the Southside Food Bank serves at least one hundred individuals on a weekly basis. “This is the church’s mission,” noted volunteer Donna Burgess, “and we find our meaning and purpose as Christians when we engage in mission.”  For more information or to volunteer, contact our church office.

Feed the Hungry

For I was hungry and you gave me food… For just as you did it to one of the least of these, you did it to me.”  In so many words, Jesus said, “feed the hungry.” In taking the charge to answer Jesus’ imperative seriously, Ms. Kim operates a ministry in Lynn Park every Saturday morning. For more information or to volunteer, please contact the church office.

Music

Southside Baptist Church has a rich and traditional musical heritage. That heritage is continued to this day with its Sanctuary Choir, the 62-rank Holtkamp pipe organ, Martinson Choral Scholars, and a wide variety of world-class vocal soloists and guest instrumentalists from local universities and the Alabama Symphony.

This is a low-pressure space that encourages community members to invite neighbors and friends to participate in the life of Southside Baptist Church outside Sunday attendance.
